The Michigan High School Athletics Association-MHSAA football state championship games held less than a week ago today were phenomenal to watch. All the games were highly anticipated and captured the audience’s attention nationally. However, the Division 1 game aired last was by far the largest talent showcase by both teams. Division 1 for Michigan football is the heavy-weight title fight on pay-per-view. In today’s blog, we’re writing about the champions of Southfield High School of the Arts & Technology and their fearless Quarterback leader on the field, Isaiah “Zeke” Marshall, who was also crowned the game MVP.
It’s important to note that the opposing team, Belleville High School, has been the reigning champions for the past two seasons. The game was viewed as the battle of the QBs.There was even a meme featured below with Zeke looking up to the younger Belleville QB on the mountain in a “David vs. Goliath” scenario. This may have seemed reasonable for those only looking with new eyes. However, MET has watched the players on both teams since elementary school and ranked them. Zeke is currently ranked a 3-star recruit in the industry, but in our METrix rankings, he’s a 4-star plus. Zeke was the senior, wiser, and the best player in the championship game.
Zeke made history with his relentless will to win. He played flawlessly at home. Ford Field is home to Zeke because he has played and won championships there as a youth several times before. Zeke isn’t new to winning, but high-level winning is somewhat newer to Southfield A&T. In fact, the school made history by winning its first state championship on November 25, 2023.
Well with 2023 record season-breaking stats, unseating the reigning Division 1 champs in a classic battle, and winning MVP the senior season football campaign has concluded grandly. The “Tiger King” Isaiah Marshall, has made us proud. We can’t wait to watch him compete in collegiate play. Zeke is currently committed to and locked in to play with the Kansas Jayhawks.
